Optimal Contracts

Ensuring transparency and fairness in contracts across all industries

Optimal Contracts builds Optimal DAO and provides Optimal DApps for our members. Optimal DApps are powered by Optimal Smart Contracts based on AI and blockchain technologies applied to contract theory that aims to achieve Pareto optimality in all exchanges of value across all industries.

Our Mission

Every exchange of value, every contract in the economy is affected by the Principal-Agent problem: the provider (the Agent) of a product, such as a good, a service, or a liability is better informed about the product than the recipient (the Principal) of the product.  The provider may use his informational advantage to ensure that the settlement is in his favour, resulting in a net loss of value for the recipient. The lack of transparent information and incentives reduces the market efficiency associated with these contracts and sometimes leads to market failure.

Our mission is to develop a systematic solution to this problem across all industries, by building Optimal DAO. In 2022, we founded Optimal Contracts AG in Zug, Switzerland, in the heart of the famous crypto valley to build step by step all the missing pieces of this ecosystem.

Optimal DAO

Optimal DAO solves the Principal-Agent problem in all exchanges of value for the recipients who become our members. We achieve Pareto optimality for our members through the development of industry-specific Optimal DApps. These are powered by a revolutionary and patent-pending technology called Optimal Smart Contracts, based on blockchain & AI technologies applied to contract theory.

1. Our approach starts by tackling the industry-specific Oracle problem head on, leveraging AI and distributed sources of truth about the product and utility functions of both providers and members.

2. Next, we deploy our radically innovative, Optimal Smart Contract Resolution Algorithm (OSCRA) to optimise real-world contracts that minimise recipient loss while still considering the provider’s interests, generating optimal incentive mechanisms between providers and members.

3. By encoding these parameters into Optimal Smart Contracts on the blockchain, Optimal DApps become marketplaces benefiting all our members.

Optimal DAO empowers members by ensuring that governance is fully decentralised and under their control. Members can manage externalities that affect their assets, including wealth, health, data ownership, and the environment in the design of Optimal DApps.

Our Team

Costin Oarda

Founder & CEO

Costin is a fully qualified actuary of the French & Swiss Associations of Actuaries (IA & SAA). He founded Optimal Contracts AG in 2022 and Optimal DAO in 2024, pioneering the integration of AI and blockchain technologies applied to contract theory.

He is the inventor of the breakthrough Optimal Smart Contract technology, which makes it possible to systematically establish Pareto optimality in every contract across all industries, thereby enhancing transparency, trust and fairness in the economy.

Since 2013, Costin Oarda has been passionate about researching and developing concrete and operational solutions to the Principal-Agent problem and invented an Optimal Contract Resolution Algorithm to solve moral hazard in the health insurance industry.

Prior to his entrepreneurial journey, Costin Oarda was in charge of developing the actuarial reserving models and the valuation of the technical reserves of the CSS Group, the market leader in health insurance in Switzerland.

Marie Oarda

Talents

Marie is a fully qualified actuary of the Swiss Association of Actuaries (SAA). previously spent over seven years as a Lead Associate at Willis Towers Watson in Zurich, advising pension funds on Swiss second‑pillar regulations, managing client portfolios, and delivering de‑risking and actuarial valuation projects under Swiss GAAP, US GAAP, and IFRS. Earlier, they worked at Périclès Actuarial in Paris, focusing on Solvency II asset valuation, risk‑capital data, and quantitative reporting tools. They hold an MSc in Actuarial Science from HEC Lausanne (2012‑2014).
